Though a native of Ikirun in Osun State, his formative years were spent in Enugu State, providing a unique, detribalised perspective that informs his business and philanthropic efforts. He holds a National Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, and an Honorary Doctorate from the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu.
Pioneering Renewable Energy
Recognizing the energy access gap as a hurdle to economic growth, Dr. Badamosi founded JRB Solar Investment Limited in 2010. He sought expertise through training with Anji Dasol Science and Technology in China and mentorship with Germany’s JVG Technology. Today, JRB Solar is a leading renewable energy provider, offering affordable electricity to underserved communities.

The Rauf Badamosi Foundation, established in memory of his father, focuses on youth empowerment, school and hospital rehabilitation, and rural solar streetlights. In 2024, he initiated the JRB Prize for Renewable Energy, an annual essay contest for secondary schools, awarding N10 million in prizes.
Challenges and Future
Dr. Badamosi cites logistical bottlenecks in importing panels and foreign exchange instability as key challenges. He is developing an assembling plant in Nigeria to reduce reliance on imports. He remains optimistic about the 2023 Electricity Act, which empowers private companies in embedded electricity generation.
