Prudential Zenith Life Insurance has partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) to provide food support to underserved households in Lagos, as part of efforts to deepen social impact and community engagement. The outreach saw more than 50 staff volunteers from the insurer join the food bank’s distribution team to deliver essential grocery boxes to over 200 beneficiaries, targeting vulnerable families grappling with rising living costs.
Corporate Commitment to Community Support
Speaking during the exercise, the company’s Head of Human Resources, Doyinsola Atanda-Obalakun, said the initiative reflects the firm’s commitment to translating corporate values into tangible support for communities. “At Prudential Zenith Life, we believe sustainability goes beyond policy and strategy. It is about people; it is about showing up where it matters and making a real difference in others’ lives,” she said. According to her, the collaboration with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative provides an avenue to support families in need while reinforcing the message that they are not alone in the face of economic hardship.
Broader Sustainability Agenda
The initiative forms part of the company’s broader sustainability agenda, which focuses on aligning business operations with measurable social impact and community development. By encouraging employee participation in outreach programmes, the firm said it is also fostering a culture that integrates purpose with performance.
Analysts note that such interventions are becoming increasingly important as economic pressures heighten vulnerability among low-income households, with private sector participation seen as critical in complementing government efforts. Prudential Zenith Life said it would continue to explore partnerships that strengthen community resilience and deliver practical support to underserved populations, in line with its role as a long-term partner in financial protection and wellbeing.
