Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has finalised plans to distribute 53,040 bags of fertiliser to farmers across 13 local government areas in Kano North Senatorial District. This initiative aims to bolster food security in the region.
Timely Distribution for Farming Season
The distribution of this agricultural input comes well ahead of the current farming season, marking a strategic effort to ensure a bumper harvest. The fertiliser, an annual intervention by the lawmaker, is scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, May 31, 2026, across the senatorial district.
Support for Farmers and Stakeholders
In a statement released by Senator Barau's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, the intervention is part of the senator's ongoing efforts to support farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, and contribute to national food security. Beneficiaries of this gesture include farmers, party stakeholders at various levels, elected chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, and secretaries. Others include APC caucus members, imams, village heads, ward heads, headmasters, principals, security personnel, and social media influencers.
Commitment to Constituents
Senator Barau reiterated his commitment to initiatives that directly and positively impact the lives of his constituents. He emphasised that timely access to inputs such as fertiliser is critical to improving yields and ensuring food sufficiency. The intervention is designed to complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts towards achieving national food security. Senator Barau urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support to realise its intended objectives.
