The Lagos boat mishap involved a passenger boat operated by Savvy Marine. It was en route from Ilashe Beach House when the disaster struck at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2025.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) immediately mobilized their joint Search and Rescue (SAR) teams. These teams worked in close coordination with the Marine Police and other first responders at the scene.

Rescue Operations and Ongoing Search

In a joint statement signed by NIWA's Head of Public Affairs, Wuraola Alake, and LASWA's Head of Corporate Affairs, Omowunmi Yussuff, the authorities provided an update on the situation.

Four passengers were successfully rescued from the water and have been transported to a nearby hospital where they are receiving urgent medical attention. Tragically, six other passengers were recovered dead at the scene.
