A British couple has tragically drowned while on a family holiday in Australia, with the incident occurring in front of their relatives at a popular beach. Other beachgoers, including two off-duty nurses, immediately sprang into action, pulling the couple from the water and performing CPR in a frantic attempt to save their lives. Despite these heroic efforts, both individuals were declared dead a short time later, leaving the family and community in shock.
New South Wales Police Inspector Luke Geradts expressed profound sorrow over the incident, stating to ABC News, "This is a tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the family who lost their loved ones today." He commended the bravery of those who tried to revive the couple, adding, "They’re young people who are upstanding members of our community who did a great job today in trying to give this couple the best chance."
