As part of efforts aimed at promoting sustainable environmental communication in Nigeria, the Centre for Media and Communication Research (CMCR) at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), in partnership with the NNPCL Foundation, will host a two-day symposium on energy and environmental communication.
Symposium Objectives
Professor Nelson Okorie, Director of the Centre for Media and Communication Research at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, disclosed that the core objective of the symposium is to promote sustainable environmental communication among critical stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
He further stated, “In the realm of media studies, Environmental Communication is essential for mitigating issues affecting climate change and environmental health across the globe. Scholars agree that environmental communication is a catalyst for promoting environmental adaptation, conservation, and biodiversity in most modern societies.”
Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative
The event also serves as a Corporate Social Responsibility programme of the NNPCL Foundation, providing a platform for critical discourse on the importance of energy and environmental communication in the country.
Speaking further, the don said the symposium would also develop a network of development experts aimed at achieving sustainable government goals on the environment in Nigeria and the wider world.
Event Details
The symposium is scheduled to take place from June 10 to 11, 2026, at the main campus of Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos.
