Babcock Medical Student Graduates with 7 Distinctions

Oluwamuolamide Omole, a Nigerian lady, has graduated with a medical and surgery degree from Babcock University, achieving seven distinctions despite facing confusion and challenges during her second year. She shared her story on TikTok under the handle @0lamide, detailing her academic journey from a struggling 200-level student to a distinguished doctor.

Academic Struggles and Turning Point

Omole recounted that her first year was smooth, with a CGPA of 4.95, as the material was similar to what she learned in secondary school. However, in 200 level, she encountered difficulties. She said, “I had incourses back to back, I was learning strange things, I wasn’t scoring as high, and I was lost. I felt like maybe I didn’t belong. Maybe I had thought too highly of myself.”

During this trying period, she turned to prayer. “I prayed to God for a reading plan and a method that would best suit me. I prayed for help, and He helped me. God picked me up from the crowd and separated me. God made me a star,” she wrote.

Seven Distinctions and Leadership Roles

Omole graduated with distinctions in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Surgery. In addition to her academic excellence, she served as the course representative for all six years of her program. She also held leadership positions in the Babcock University Students Association (BUSA), including Senator and Chairperson of the Academic Committee for the 2023/2024 session. She later rose to become the Senate President of BUSA in the 2024/2025 session.

Balancing her studies and leadership duties was demanding. She noted, “That meant I was balancing distinctions, leading my class of over 90 students, leading a student association, and representing the rights of over 12,000 students across all hostels. I cried several times. I almost gave up, but GOD!!! God put me in rooms I didn’t deserve to be in, and He gave me access to people I normally wouldn’t have had access to.”

Social Media Reactions

Her TikTok post garnered widespread praise. User Faveee commented, “God can truly be trusted! ?? it's only up from here? Congratulations Dr Olamideee.” Another user, Präisɛ, wrote, “7 distinctions ?? The God that did it for you will do it for me.” Sharon added, “Face hot, brain hotterrr.”
