Benson Margret, a Nigerian lady, has celebrated her graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), marking a significant milestone as the first graduate in her family.
Academic Journey from OND to Degree
Margret initially earned a National Diploma (OND) in Banking and Finance from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in 2018, graduating with a strong Upper Credit. Despite her success, she aspired to further her education and pursued a university degree.
She attempted to secure direct entry admission by processing her school transcript, but faced repeated setbacks. Instead of giving up, she sat for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination again, chose Finance as her course, passed the cut-off mark, and gained admission into FUOYE.
Breaking a Family Record
In a LinkedIn post, Margret shared her story of resilience: "Today, I am not just celebrating a degree; I am celebrating resilience. Standing here as a B.Sc. Finance graduate, I am incredibly proud to say that I am officially the first graduate in my family!" She expressed gratitude to her parents, mentors, and friends for their support.
Margret also outlined her future plans, stating that she is focused on integrating data analytics into her finance expertise and has her sights set on pursuing a Master's degree. "With my OND and B.Sc. officially bagged, the learning never stops, M.Sc. is firmly in view!" she added.
Social Media Reactions
Her story triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many congratulating her on her achievement. The post highlighted her determination and the challenges she overcame, including the initial difficulty in processing her transcript and the decision to retake JAMB.
Margret's journey underscores the value of persistence in the face of obstacles, and her accomplishment serves as an inspiration to many young Nigerians striving for academic success.
