FUOYE Students Elect Ajayi Olusegun as New SUG President

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has successfully conducted elections for its Students' Union Government (SUG), with Ajayi Olusegun emerging as the new president. The election, held online with a collation center at Ado Ekiti serving as the Situation Room, was observed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Tajudeen Opoola, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages, SPRIL).

Electoral Process and Accreditation

Chairman of the Students Electoral Body, Odelami Moses Ayotunde of History and International Studies, who led 37 other members across all faculties, disclosed that 16,366 students were accredited to vote. Ayotunde described the exercise as credible, free, and fair, noting that it was the most seamless and credible election he has witnessed since becoming a student at FUOYE.

Profile of the New President

The new president, Ajayi Olusegun, hails from the Ikole campus and is a 400-level student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Popularly known as AOS The Unifier and also as Fairsam, his nickname reflects his generosity, reliability, and commitment to helping others. According to Ayotunde, Olusegun is a passionate student leader, public speaker, entrepreneur, and advocate for student welfare. Throughout his academic journey, he has demonstrated strong commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence, holding several leadership positions and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving students' academic, social, and welfare experiences.

Bolu Fashakin, a 400-level student of Political Science, remarked that the new president's dedication to service, unity, and student development has earned him the trust and confidence of the student body.

The new executive council includes Vice President Taiwo Victor Oluwadarasimi, General Secretary Olatunbosun Oluwaferanmi Faith, Assistant General Secretary Rabiu Azeez Olawale, Social Director Okoro Chukwuemeka, Sports Director Isaac Ebenezer Ekoyon, Director of Transport Akere Daniel Oluwamuyiwa, Financial Secretary Oyelakin Ayodeji Solomon, Treasurer Shobayo Olatunbosun Olasunkanmi, Public Relations Officer Oni Olaoluwa Elijah, and Welfare Director Salami Nimotalai Moyinoluwa.
