Redeemer’s University Lecturer Earns Second Master’s at 25 with 5.0 GPA

Nigerian academic Oluwatomisin Okeniyi, an assistant lecturer at Redeemer’s University, has earned her second master’s degree—a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public Policy from Miva Open University—at age 25, graduating with a perfect 5.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA). She now sets her sights on completing a PhD by age 28.

Academic Milestones: From B.Sc. to Second Master’s

Okeniyi’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at 20, where she earned a 2:1. She then obtained a Master of Science in Marketing at 24, graduating with Distinction. Now, at 25, she has added an MPA to her credentials, achieving a 5.0 CGPA and being recognized as one of the best graduating students in her cohort.

In a LinkedIn post, Okeniyi expressed her determination: “I have never, and will never, allow my age to put a limit on my dreams or stop me from achieving my goals.” She noted that expanding her academic focus from Business Administration and Marketing into Public Policy was a rewarding challenge.

Balancing Studies, PhD, and Lecturing

Okeniyi credited Miva Open University’s flexible system for enabling her to juggle the MPA program alongside her rigorous PhD studies and her professional duties as an assistant lecturer at Redeemer’s University. She shared that celebrating the milestone with her brother and father made the day even more special.

“Getting to celebrate this massive milestone alongside my brother and my dad made the day even more perfect. Above all, I thank God Almighty for the grace, wisdom, and strength to keep pushing forward,” she wrote.

Reactions from the Online Community

Okeniyi’s achievement sparked widespread praise on social media. Benedicta Otoibhi commented: “Congratulations. Oluwatomisin Okeniyi B.Sc, M.Sc, Mnimn I’m so proud of you.” Sedifio Patricia added: “Congratulations on such a remarkable achievement. You deserve the spotlight, keep soaring.”

The story joins other notable academic feats in Nigeria, including a UNILAG best graduating student who was rejected by the University of Ibadan, and a LASU best graduating student who shared her admission struggles in an interview with Legit.ng.
