In a groundbreaking development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 632,788 candidates who participated in the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This marks an unprecedented step in the board's history, with results made available just one day after the initial exam session.
How to Access Your UTME Results
According to a statement issued on Friday night via the X handle of JAMB Spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026, can now check their results. The board has provided a simple SMS-based method for accessing scores.
To view results, candidates must send the keyword "UTMERESULT" via SMS to either 55019 or 66019. It is crucial to use the same phone number that was registered during the UTME application process. JAMB has clarified that, at this initial stage, candidates can only view their results online; the printing feature will be activated at a later date.
Examination Schedule and Ongoing Process
The 2026 UTME commenced on April 16 and is scheduled to continue through Wednesday, April 22, 2026. JAMB has assured that more results will be released in batches as the examination progresses and processing is completed. This staggered release aims to ensure accuracy and efficiency in result management.
Warning Against Result Manipulation
In a stern advisory, JAMB has issued a strong warning against any attempts to manipulate or falsify UTME results. The board emphasized that altering text messages from its official platforms to misrepresent scores is a criminal offence. Dr. Benjamin revealed that the board is already taking decisive action against offenders.
Specifically, two candidates and one parent have been arrested for allegedly falsifying results using artificial intelligence and other electronic means. JAMB stressed that any candidate found guilty of such malpractice will face the full weight of the law, including potential legal prosecution and disqualification from the admission process.
Ensuring Integrity in the Examination System
This move underscores JAMB's commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME, a critical gateway for tertiary education in Nigeria. By releasing results promptly and cracking down on fraud, the board aims to foster a fair and transparent assessment environment for all candidates.
As the examination continues nationwide, candidates are encouraged to check their results responsibly and adhere to all guidelines provided by JAMB to avoid any complications in their academic pursuits.
