The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially dismissed as entirely fake a purported result slip currently circulating on social media, which falsely claims that a candidate scored 396 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Official Statement from JAMB
In a statement released on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin expressed dismay that even well-informed Nigerians were sharing the fabricated document. He reiterated that the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only and cannot be printed or downloaded as shown on the fake slip.
Key Inconsistencies Identified
Benjamin pointed out several red flags that expose the document as fraudulent. He noted that the registration number on the fake slip follows a pattern starting with “20269,” which does not match JAMB's system-generated registration numbers. Additionally, the result template used in the fabrication is not the official JAMB template, making it easy to identify as counterfeit.
“There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” Benjamin said. He urged the public to disregard the fake result and rely only on official JAMB channels for accurate information regarding UTME scores.
Public Advisory
JAMB advised candidates and the general public to avoid sharing unverified results and to report any suspicious documents to the Board. The Board also emphasized that it will continue to take legal action against individuals or groups involved in creating and disseminating fake results.
