Ogun Police Deploy Officers to 72 CBT Centres for 2026 UTME Security
The Ogun State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive security deployment, sending police officers and operational assets to 72 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state. This move is part of the security arrangements for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to take place from 16th to 25th April, 2026. The deployment underscores the command's commitment to adopting proactive, firm, and intelligence-led security measures aimed at ensuring a safe, orderly, and credible examination exercise throughout all CBT centres in Ogun State.
Proactive Security Measures and Operational Plan
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the deployment to newsmen. Babaseyi elaborated that the operational plan is meticulously designed to guarantee a visible police presence, facilitate early threat detection, and enable swift responses to any security concerns before, during, and after the examination period organized by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB). He emphasized that this security strategy follows the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, who has mandated that all Area Commanders within jurisdictions hosting CBT centres be placed on heightened operational alert. These commanders are directed to take full charge of security management within their respective areas, ensuring strict supervision of deployed personnel.
Enhanced Coordination and Enforcement
The Police PRO further detailed that the command will implement sustained patrols around examination environments and maintain close coordination with Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and JAMB officials to ensure the seamless conduct of the exercise. Babaseyi issued a stern warning, stating that the command will not tolerate any attempts to engage in examination malpractice, impersonation, or any form of disorderly conduct. Such actions will be met with swift and decisive measures, including arrest and prosecution, to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
Assurances and Public Cooperation
Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni reassured residents of robust, proactive, and firm security coverage throughout the examination period. He reaffirmed the command's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, order, and the integrity of the 2026 UTME across the state. The CP also urged candidates to strictly comply with all examination guidelines and conduct themselves responsibly at all centres. Additionally, he encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines, which include the Gateway Shield toll-free number: 0800 000 9111, and emergency numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
