Umahi Rewards Ebonyi Student with 356 JAMB Score
Minister of Works David Umahi has awarded a university scholarship to Obasi Victor Nnanna, an Ebonyi State indigene who achieved a 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score of 356. Umahi described the student's performance as excellent.
Umahi made the announcement shortly after receiving news of Nnanna's outstanding results from the management of King David Gifted Academy, Abakaliki, where the student completed his secondary education.
Nnanna's aggregate score of 356 comprised 98 in Mathematics, 98 in Physics, 91 in Chemistry, and 69 in English Language. This achievement made him the highest-scoring UTME candidate in Ebonyi State and placed him among the top performers nationwide.
The beneficiary is a member of the pioneer graduating class of King David Gifted Academy, an institution established in 2016 by Umahi during his tenure as Governor of Ebonyi State. The school was founded to promote academic excellence and nurture future leaders through quality education.
The scholarship award has been widely applauded by education stakeholders, who described it as a fitting reward for hard work, discipline, and academic excellence.
Additionally, the family of late retired Air Vice Marshal Terry Omatsola Okorodudu has initiated a scholarship scheme to support students seeking tertiary education across the country. His widow, Joan Isioma Okorodudu, and son, Steven Bidemi Okorodudu, stated that the initiative was established to sustain the late military officer's commitment to education and youth development.
According to the family, the scholarship program is designed to assist students pursuing higher education in disciplines such as medicine, engineering, law, and other degree courses.
Among the first beneficiaries are two children of Nigerian Air Force personnel, two students from Yonwuren College, Ugbuwangwe, Warri, as well as Abubarkar Hashimu Bashir, son of the late officer's former orderly, Flight Dispatcher Bashir Abubakar, among others.
In a tribute, Yonwuren Media/Foundation described Okorodudu as a distinguished military officer whose career was marked by service, leadership, and contributions to national development.
