UTME 2026: Lowest Score is 303, Says Alex Onyia

Alex Onyia, the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, has stated that after reviewing several results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the lowest score he has observed so far is 303.

Commendation for JAMB's Performance

Onyia, a software developer from Enugu, praised the JAMB leadership under Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede for introducing new developments that have enhanced the overall quality and credibility of the examination. He noted that students who diligently used Educare's resources performed exceptionally well.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Onyia wrote: 'I have been studying results of this recent JAMB exam. All students that judiciously studied using Educare did amazingly well. In short, the lowest score I have seen so far is 303. The students that participated in the National JAMB Readiness Assessment we organised online also did amazingly well. It really prepped them.'

He added: 'Any child who doesn't utilise this tool effectively is disadvantaged. I wish we had this opportunity in our own time.'

Faster Result Release

In an earlier tweet, Onyia commended JAMB for releasing results within 24 hours after the exam, stating: 'I commend JAMB for their great improvements in releasing results faster than usual. That's within 24 hours after the exam. This is how it should be. Our feedbacks last year were truly considered.'

He further noted: 'The few results I have seen so far is quite impressive, and the lowest of them is 303.'

UTME 2026 Statistics

JAMB released over 1.8 million results for the 2026 UTME, which was conducted between Thursday, April 16 and Saturday, April 25. The examination is Africa's most populous nation's centralised entrance exam for universities and other tertiary institutions. According to JAMB data, about 2.2 million candidates registered and sat for the examination nationwide in 2026, a slight increase compared to 2025.

Screening of Underage High Scorers

Earlier, it was reported that JAMB commenced screening of underage candidates who recorded high scores in the 2026 UTME. The exercise affects candidates who scored 320 and above and fall within the exceptional category as defined by the board. JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that eligible candidates have begun receiving notifications with further directives.
