Abundance Grace Outreach Brings Yuletide Cheer, Awards Scholarships to 600 Pupils in Rivers
600 Rivers Pupils Get Learning Materials, Scholarships

In a heartwarming gesture to mark the festive season, the Abundance Grace Outreach project has provided vital support to hundreds of families in Rivers State. The organization distributed essential learning materials to approximately 600 pupils, offering significant relief to parents as the new school term approaches in January.

Festive Relief for Families in Okrika

The distribution event took place on Monday in the community of Okrika. The founder of the project, Mrs Olubukola Ilevbare, personally handed over the items to children and their guardians. The aid package was comprehensive, designed to address both educational and immediate welfare needs.

The items distributed included:

  • School bags and footwear
  • Clothing and Bibles
  • Cartons of noodles and other food items
  • Party packs for the children

Beyond the material gifts, the initiative made a profound investment in the future of five exceptional children. Each of the five scholarship recipients was awarded the sum of N100,000 to support their academic pursuits.

A Mission of Compassion and Shared Humanity

Mrs Ilevbare explained that the outreach is driven by a fundamental commitment to humanitarian service for the less privileged. She noted that poverty often prevents many children from experiencing the true joy and celebration of the Christmas season.

"Sometimes Christmas comes and goes and some children do not even understand what it means to celebrate Christmas," Ilevbare stated. "Our visit to Okrika is to let them know that they are loved, to enable them to enjoy Christmas, and to reassure them that God cares about them."

She emphasized that the season symbolizes compassion, love, and shared humanity, values at the core of the project's mission. This 2025 event marked the ninth edition of the annual outreach, which has now brought hope and happiness to thousands of children and their families since its inception in 2016.

Gratitude and Future Commitments

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Love Christ, whose two children were among the five scholarship awardees, expressed immense gratitude. She described 2025 as a particularly challenging year for her family and viewed the support as a divine answer to prayer.

"I am very happy that my two children are among the five scholarship beneficiaries. This is an answered prayer for my family as the money will support my children's education and lessen the burden on us," she said.

Mrs Ilevbare commended the organization's partners, volunteers, and well-wishers for their contributions to the success of the 2025 outreach. She strongly reaffirmed the commitment to sustain this vital initiative, with plans already underway to ensure that even more children and families benefit in the 2026 edition.
