Medical Student Who Scored 347 in UTME Graduates With Distinction in 7 Courses, Breaks Record
A Nigerian medical student has made headlines after graduating with outstanding academic achievements. Oloruntoba Ettu, who scored 347 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and earned eight A's and one B in his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has completed his medical degree with distinctions in seven out of ten courses. His performance is the best recorded among 32 graduating sets from the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University, since its inception.
Journey to Success
Ettu shared his inspiring journey on social media platform X, detailing how he began his path to becoming a doctor eight years ago. He wrote: '8 years ago, I began this journey to become a doctor, after 8As and 1B in my WASSCE and a score of 347 in my UTME. The journey is finally over, with distinctions in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Internal Medicine.' He described the experience as intense but rewarding, and posted photos of himself in medical attire, proudly displaying his new title as a qualified doctor.
In a follow-up post, Ettu emphasized the historic nature of his achievement: 'Distinctions in 7 out of 10 courses. The best result in all 32 sets of medical doctors that have graduated since the inception of Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University. It was one hell of a ride!'
