A Covenant University computer science student, Marvellous Itsuokor, has been awarded a N50 million Student Venture Capital Grant by the Federal Government for his innovative artificial intelligence tool. The grant was presented by the Minister of Education as part of a national initiative to support high-potential student startups.
The Winning Project: Pallo
Itsuokor's project, named Pallo, is an AI-powered software designed to automate codebase documentation. This tool helps developers by analyzing and documenting code automatically, allowing engineering teams to focus on future development rather than past code. The idea was developed rapidly, with Itsuokor building a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) within three weeks of applying for the grant, working as developer, designer, and marketer simultaneously.
University Support and Recognition
Covenant University celebrated the achievement on its Facebook page, highlighting that Itsuokor was one of only two representatives from private universities at the final pitch. The student credited the university's support for enabling his participation. With the N50 million seed funding, Pallo aims to scale into a global tool for developer productivity, showcasing Nigerian student-led innovation.
