Ekiti State University Graduate Shares Emotional Experience as Sole Student in Her Department
A graduate of Ekiti State University (EKSU) has captured widespread attention on social media by sharing her unique academic journey, where she was the only student in her department throughout her university years. The young lady, identified as @pretty_ajiwun on TikTok, posted a video detailing her experiences, which quickly went viral and sparked numerous reactions online.
Isolated Academic Path from Admission to Graduation
In her TikTok post, @pretty_ajiwun explained that she gained admission to EKSU in 2021 without realizing she would be the sole student in her department. She wrote, "I got admission into EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY 2021. Little did I know that I’d be the only student. No course mate, just me alone!" This meant she attended classes alone, studied independently, and faced the daunting task of writing exams without any peers.
She described writing eight exams alone each semester, with nothing less than ten courses per term, and balancing academic responsibilities such as Industrial Training (SIWES) during her 300-level year. Despite these challenges, she expressed gratitude, stating, "But God did it. I signed out yesterday guys." Her department was revealed as B.Sc Environmental Management and Science.
Overcoming Misconceptions and Personal Struggles
@pretty_ajiwun highlighted that many people assumed being the only student would make her academic life easier, but she found the opposite to be true. She shared, "The whole world thinks being the only student would be easier, but reverse is the case. I am grateful regardless that I conquered this battle alone." Throughout her 100 to 400 levels, she faced criticism, often being labeled as "unserious" even when putting in her best effort or dealing with personal hardships.
She concluded her video with a triumphant declaration, "I AM A GRADUATE!" and expressed self-appreciation for her hard work and resilience, noting that she received no formal recognition from her school but valued her own achievements.
