Emir Sanusi II Enrolls in Law at Kano University

The Emir of Kano, His Highness Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, has embarked on a new academic journey, securing a place to study law at a university in his domain.

Special Admission Granted for LLB Programme

Northwest University in Kano has officially admitted the monarch into its Bachelor of Laws programme. The university offered him a special admission into the LLB Common Law and Sharia degree course. This significant step was confirmed through an official letter from the institution.

The correspondence, dated January 12, 2026, was signed by Jafaru Muhammad. He acts as the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records, signing on behalf of the University Registrar. The letter formally conveyed the approval of the Emir's application for special consideration.

Admission Details and Requirements

According to the university's letter, the Emir's application was successful after he satisfied all necessary requirements for special consideration. His admission is not at the beginner's level. He has been placed directly into Level 200 within the Faculty of Law.

This academic placement is effective from the 2024/2025 academic session. The institution clearly stated that the admission is conditional. The Emir, like all students, must comply with all the rules and regulations outlined in the official Student Handbook.

Public Announcement and Reaction

The news of the royal admission became public through a social media post by former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad. He shared the university's admission letter on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, bringing the story to national attention.

This move by the prominent traditional ruler highlights a commitment to lifelong learning and legal scholarship. It sets a notable precedent for leadership and education in Nigeria.
