LAUTECH Confirms NELFUND Disbursed Over N1.4 Billion to Students in 2025

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has reaffirmed its strong collaboration with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), addressing recent media reports and providing detailed clarifications on the disbursement of loans to its students. In an official statement released by the university's Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, LAUTECH emphasized that it maintains a cordial and highly productive relationship with NELFUND, highlighting that this partnership has consistently delivered significant benefits for the student body.

Financial Support and Disbursement Details

The university management expressed deep appreciation for NELFUND's ongoing support, particularly noting the disbursement of over ₦1.4 billion in the year 2025. This substantial financial injection has played a crucial role in alleviating financial burdens for numerous students, thereby enhancing access to higher education and supporting academic pursuits. LAUTECH clarified that during its pre-convocation press briefing, it provided an update on the current application cycle under the loan scheme, but some media outlets misinterpreted this information, leading to inaccurate portrayals.

According to the university, approximately 19,000 students applied for the NELFUND scheme, with more than 15,000 applications having been verified in accordance with established procedures. For the ongoing 2025/2026 academic session, a total of 5,237 students have already received approval for the loan and are awaiting disbursement, while other verified applications are at various stages of processing. LAUTECH stressed that it never suggested any reluctance or inability on NELFUND's part to release funds, describing such interpretations as completely unfounded and misleading.
