A Nigerian man, Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye, has shared his inspiring academic journey after successfully defending his PhD thesis at Babcock University in Ogun State. He also revealed that he earned a third master's degree during his doctoral studies.
PhD Achievement at Babcock University
On his Facebook page, Adeleye announced the successful defense of his PhD thesis on May 22, 2026. His thesis, titled “Budgetary Allocation and Performance of Service Delivery in Lagos State, Nigeria,” examined how fiscal policy and government spending impacted healthcare, agriculture, housing, and educational infrastructure in Lagos, one of Sub-Saharan Africa's most populous cities.
The study covered the period from 2015 to 2025, including the administrations of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (2015–2019) and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (2019–2025). This allowed a longitudinal analysis of budget trends, policy implementation, and continuity across different governments.
Additional Master's Degree
Interestingly, during his PhD journey, Adeleye also began and completed an additional master's degree in the United Kingdom to advance his career. This brought the total number of master's degrees on his resume to three.
He expressed gratitude to God, saying, “All glory, honor, and adoration belong to God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Starter and the Finisher, whose grace alone made it possible for me to attain the zenith of academic qualification on earth.”
