Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has ignited widespread reactions on social media after sharing his experience at a football viewing centre in the United States during the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup. The actor posted a video that quickly went viral, showing his shock at the cost of watching a match outside the stadium.
Aki's Surprising Discovery at the US Viewing Centre
In the viral clip, Aki expressed disbelief as he revealed that fans were charged $30, approximately N40,000, to watch a game on a giant screen without entering the stadium. He stated, 'We came to watch a match, not even in the stadium. This is just where they put the big screen. Do you know how much they are charging us? $30!' The actor also noted that parking alone cost an additional $30, joking about the high prices while admitting they still proceeded to watch the match.
Mixed Reactions From Nigerians
The video sparked a flurry of comments from netizens, with many disagreeing with the actor's perspective. Some users argued that the fee was for parking rather than the viewing experience. For instance, user sunnnex_ commented, 'It's free, na parking you pay for.' Others highlighted currency differences, with stanleylemon4 saying, 'Every time una go dey calculate in naira .. what is the minimum over there in naira too.' Another user, marcusjr_official, added, 'Why are you people crying? It's your currency that's weak guys. If you have a strong currency that 30$ should be 30 naira.'
User inv_mickey pointed out economic disparities, writing, 'Una economy na same? Make una answer that first …una go just dey complain for no reason …them force you go there? You can't see a British man or even a European man go to another man's country to complain ..na only African s or Nigerias at most.' Meanwhile, omo_chinko_ac compared the cost to cinema tickets: 'We way Dey go CINEMA?? go watch your movie for $50 nko??? Lol.'
