The mother of the late Nigerian Fuji singer, Destiny Boy, has publicly addressed the swirling rumours about her son's tragic passing, vehemently denying any involvement with money rituals or sacrificial practices for fame.
Mother's Emotional Plea to the Public
In a heartfelt video that went viral across social media platforms, Saida Adeshina issued a stern warning against the spread of unverified stories. Visibly emotional, she stated that anyone attempting to use her son's name for personal relevance would "suffer the same fate" as him. She introduced herself clearly, aiming to set the record straight directly from the family.
The Timeline of Destiny Boy's Illness
Saida Adeshina provided a detailed account of her son's health struggles, which began approximately two years ago, shortly after the birth of his child. She explained that before the child's naming ceremony, Destiny Boy and his father visited a popular herbalist known as Ifayomi. It was during this visit that the singer was initiated into Ifa worship.
According to his mother, the herbalist showed great affection for Destiny Boy and even gifted him a ram. However, soon after this encounter, the singer's health problems began. He fell ill, clutching his stomach and collapsing, marking the start of a prolonged battle.
Family's Desperate Search for a Cure
The family's journey to find healing for Destiny Boy was extensive and fraught with difficulty. They initially took him to a hospital. Throughout the ordeal, they maintained contact with Ifayomi, who, Saida claimed, provided financial assistance and reassurance that nothing would happen to the singer.
When his condition showed no sign of improvement, the herbalist asked that Destiny Boy be brought to him. Saida personally bathed her son with a soap provided by Ifayomi, after which he experienced a temporary recovery. The illness, however, returned. It was described as "Oku Oru," a condition she likened to epilepsy, which caused intermittent erratic behaviour.
Eager to protect the image of their rising star, the family tried to manage the situation discreetly. Their search for a cure led them to several pastors and various herbalists before they eventually returned to Ifayomi for help.
The Final Days and Public Reaction
Saida revealed that due to her own health and business commitments, she was unable to visit her son in his final days. Growing worried after her repeated phone calls went unanswered, she later received a late-night call informing her that his condition had deteriorated once more.
She clarified that Destiny Boy's father was with him throughout and that the singer had been well enough to entertain people earlier on that very day. She also dismissed suspicions directed at the herbalist, noting that Ifayomi had travelled at the time, something she believed he would not have done if Destiny Boy's situation was critical.
Upon the herbalist's return, Destiny Boy reportedly refused to take a herbal medication, leading to the advice that he should be taken to a hospital.
The mother's revelation has ignited a fresh wave of discussion online, with many Nigerians expressing their views on the circumstances. Social media reactions range from scepticism and calls for a deeper investigation to prayers for the family and the late singer's soul. Some comments draw parallels to other recent celebrity deaths, while others caution against speculation.
The conversation continues as the public processes this personal account from the heart of the grieving family.
