Spiritualist Blames Herbalist for Destiny Boy's Death, Sparks Online Debate
Herbalist Accused of Killing Destiny Boy in Viral Claim

A controversial claim by a self-proclaimed spiritualist, alleging that a herbalist was responsible for the death of popular Afrofuji musician Destiny Boy, has set Nigerian social media ablaze with reactions.

Viral Allegations from a Spiritualist

In a video that rapidly spread on TikTok, a man who identifies as Baba Asiri Irawo passionately accused an unnamed herbalist of killing the singer, whose real name was Afeez Adesina. The spiritualist issued a stern warning to parents about neglecting their children's welfare from a young age while making his central allegation.

Baba Asiri Irawo claimed the herbalist in question routinely took the lion's share of Destiny Boy's earnings, leaving the artist with little financial benefit from his hard work. He argued that the herbalist deceived the late singer with false promises of wealth through rituals.

"The child Destiny Boy that died, it was babalawo that killed him. You are always deceiving them that if they do ritual, they will be rich. And that is a big lie," the spiritualist stated in the video.

He further elaborated that such herbalists give clients items they cannot use themselves, and then demand a large cut—like 5 million Naira from 20 million—when money comes in, thereby building their own wealth on the backs of others.

Criticism of Management and Family

The spiritualist did not stop at the herbalist; he also heavily criticized Destiny Boy's management and family. He lamented that they failed to provide proper guidance during the peak of his fame, a time when he should have been building a secure future.

"The time he should be using to build himself, you are destroying the boy's destiny," he said, suggesting that a lack of correct mentorship contributed to the tragic outcome.

Mixed Reactions from Netizens

The video, shared on January 19, 2026, sparked a heated debate online. Legit.ng gathered a range of comments from TikTok users reflecting the public's divided opinion.

Some users, like Bukola Ibukun, shared personal experiences that seemed to validate the spiritualist's warnings about dangerous herbal practices. Others strongly disagreed with the narrative.

User @keepoff2080 expressed a common sentiment, stating, "Once someone dies, others take over their story, media, and strangers online, that’s unfair. You don’t have to judge no one."

Another commenter, Omoniyi Toyosi, directly countered the claim by referencing the singer's mother: "Him mama don talk say no be babalawo kill him ooo. She said he get one sickness way de do ham."

The reactions highlight a deep public skepticism towards posthumous allegations and a respect for the family's account of events.

Family's Previous Response to Rumours

This is not the first time the family has had to address rumours surrounding Destiny Boy's death. Legit.ng had previously reported that the singer's elder sister reacted to a viral voice note their mother sent to him before his death.

She clarified the context behind her mother's words and shut down swirling rumours about the cause of his passing, urging the public to respect their privacy and grief.

The latest allegations by Baba Asiri Irawo have therefore reopened a painful chapter for the family, forcing the tragedy back into the court of public opinion where facts and speculation fiercely collide.
