Isaac Fayose's Emotional Revelation About Wife's Cancer Battle
Popular Nigerian social commentator Isaac Fayose has shared a heartbreaking account of his wife's ongoing battle with cancer, breaking down in tears during an emotional video posted on his Instagram account. The media personality revealed that he recently traveled to Australia to visit his family, only to be confronted with the devastating reality of his wife's deteriorating health condition.
A Painful Homecoming in Australia
Fayose described how his arrival in Australia contrasted sharply with previous visits, as his wife was too weak to welcome him properly. "When I got here, my wife was so weak she couldn't even turn to say welcome Isaac," he explained through tears. Normally, his wife would pick him up from the airport and prepare meals for him, but this time he had to take an Uber home and cook for himself while his wife lay unable to speak or move.
The emotional moment deepened as Fayose recounted sitting beside his wife and singing her favorite hymn, "Abide With Me" first in English and then in Yoruba, in an attempt to comfort her. Though her eyes remained closed and she couldn't speak, she responded by faintly squeezing his hand, indicating she could still hear his voice.
Wealth Cannot Save Lives, Fayose Declares
In his emotional state, Fayose turned his personal pain into a powerful critique of Nigerian leadership and healthcare infrastructure. "My one million dollar house couldn't save my wife. My wealth couldn't save my wife, she was lying there," he lamented. The social commentator questioned why politicians continue to accumulate wealth at the expense of ordinary citizens when such resources cannot guarantee health or save lives.
Fayose specifically criticized the condition of Nigerian hospitals, citing reports of facilities in Ekiti state lacking basic amenities like electricity and water. He urged politicians to stop misappropriating public funds that should be directed toward improving healthcare infrastructure and services for all Nigerians.
Call for Political Change and Celebrity Support
The commentator also addressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directly, suggesting that at 74 years old, the president should consider stepping aside to allow new leadership to address Nigeria's pressing challenges. Fayose emphasized that citizens are suffering greatly under current conditions and need genuine solutions rather than empty promises.
Following his emotional video, numerous Nigerian celebrities and public figures flooded his comment section with messages of support and encouragement. Notable personalities including:
- Davido, who wrote: "Stay strong baba"
- Shina Peller, who commented: "God is in control.. Stay strong bro"
- Do2dtun, who wrote: "God is with you through this"
- Williams Bankole, who prayed: "Lord we turn to you for Isaac's wife. We have no one else to turn to. Please do only that which you can do and heal her"
Fans and followers also expressed their sympathy, with many praying for his wife's recovery and offering words of comfort during this difficult period.
Previous Criticism of Political Supporters Abroad
This isn't the first time Fayose has used his platform to criticize political dynamics in Nigeria. Previously, he called out Nigerians living abroad who continue to support President Tinubu from overseas while avoiding the harsh realities faced by those living in the country. He described this behavior as selfish and urged supporters to return to Nigeria if they genuinely believe the country is progressing under current leadership.
The emotional video has sparked widespread discussion about healthcare accessibility, political accountability, and the human cost of Nigeria's ongoing challenges. Fayose's raw vulnerability in sharing his family's struggle has resonated with many Nigerians who have faced similar healthcare challenges or witnessed loved ones suffer due to inadequate medical facilities.
