Mr Ibu's Son Accuses Stepmum Stella of Selling Properties

Son Alleges Stepmother Sold Properties Worth Millions

Somtochukwu Okafor, one of the sons of the late Nigerian comedian and actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has publicly accused his stepmother, Stella Okafor (also called Stellamaris), of selling properties left by the actor and withholding proceeds from his other children. The allegations surfaced in a video circulating on social media, reigniting public debate about the actor's estate three years after his death.

In the video, Somtochukwu claimed that Stella sold Mr Ibu's house in Lagos for 60 million naira without consulting any of the actor's children. He stated: "My father left a lot of properties for his children, but his wife chose to take everything for herself and her children. My father's house in Lagos she sold it for 60 million, and she didn’t reach out to any of his children." He further alleged that Stella also kept donations made by Nigerians during Mr Ibu's health challenges for herself and her children.

Family Feud Over Estate and Neglect

Somtochukwu said Stella's actions were a "slap" to him and the rest of Mr Ibu's children. He claimed that despite his late father's instruction for Stella to take care of him, she cut him off. The video emerged as a response to a viral clip in which Stella and her children appealed to the public for financial assistance with school fees and living expenses.

The controversy has drawn widespread reactions on social media. Ruth Aire Ogbeide commented: "So as rich as this man late Mr ibu ,he couldn't even write a will and share his properties to his children, instead he trusted a step mother over his first children. Very foolish decision I must say. Now that he is no more now,the children are now suffering." Esther Egboo Onyemenonu asked: "What did she did with the money?" Udoka Christopher wrote: "Wetin she use the money do? Nawaooo." Ugwuanyi Gift recalled: "Remember when mr ibu was on the sick bed and they told him his wife came to the hospital to see him, he refused to see her even on a sick bed.. that act alone says a lot of things…"

Previous Generosity by Adopted Daughter

In related news, Mr Ibu's adopted daughter, Lady Jasmine, recently shared a story of an abandoned old woman who lost 13 of her 14 children and was sent packing from her house. Lady Jasmine helped the woman, whose properties were seized and who had been living in a tent. The gesture captured attention online amid the family's alleged suffering.
