A Nigerian Catholic priest based in the United States, Rev. Fr. Andrew Ifele, has passed away. He died in his sleep on Monday, April 27, 2026.
At the time of his death, Fr. Ifele served as the administrator of La Santisima Trinidad in Arroyo Seco, within the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, USA. Since 2011, he had been a priest at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa and its mission churches, including Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Cerro, Sagrado Corazón in Costilla, Santo Niño in Amalia, and St. Edwin’s in Red River.
The Catholic Diocese of Awka confirmed his death in a statement issued on Tuesday. The statement, signed by the chancellor, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubisi, noted that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
