Gilbert Chagoury, the founder of the Chagoury Group, which has interests in construction, real estate, hospitality, and other sectors through companies like Hitech Construction and ITB Nigeria, is a long-standing business associate of President Bola Tinubu. In January 2026, President Tinubu conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Chagoury, Nigeria's second-highest national honour, in recognition of his contributions to the country.
