The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has officially confirmed the detention and court arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, widely known as Sammy West, who is the elder brother of famous Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Police Statement Reveals Reasons for Arrest
In a detailed statement released on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, clarified that Sammy West's arrest followed a formal petition filed against him and three other individuals. The petition contained serious allegations including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
Adeh emphasized that the police had extended multiple invitations to Sammy West for questioning, but he consistently failed to honor these requests. "Upon receipt of the petition, several invitations were extended to Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu... which were not honored," the police statement read.
Court Proceedings and Family Reactions
Due to the ignored invitations, law enforcement authorities obtained a valid arrest warrant from the court before apprehending Sammy West in Lagos and transporting him to Abuja for further investigation. After completing the investigation phase, Sammy was formally arraigned in court on November 6, 2025.
The court has ordered that he remain in custody until he meets specific bail conditions, which have not been fulfilled as of the latest reports. This development occurs amidst growing tension within Regina Daniels' family and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Regina Daniels and her siblings have been actively expressing their concerns on social media platforms, describing the situation as intimidation and emotional pressure. Her elder brother, Sweezy, recently announced plans to return to Nigeria from abroad, declaring his willingness to face arrest alongside Sammy.
Their mother, Rita Daniels, has also raised alarms about potential moves to detain her. Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of events, Regina Daniels has hinted at possibly reconciling with Senator Ned Nwoko if that would secure her brother's release from detention.
In an emotional Instagram post, the mother of two expressed that Sammy's primary offense was supporting her during a time when she needed protection most. She voiced disappointment with Nigerian law enforcement systems, noting that her previous respect for the police has significantly diminished following these events.
