Seun Kuti's Sister Motunrayo Blasts VDM and Ratels, Says They Lack Father Figure
Seun Kuti's Sister Blasts VDM, Ratels Over Father Figure Comment

Motunrayo Bakare, the sister of Nigerian singer Seun Kuti, has publicly addressed the ongoing feud between her brother and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). The conflict escalated when VDM and his supporters, called Ratels, began criticizing Seun Kuti over his stance on the Sowore-Blord controversy.

Motunrayo Blasts Ratels Over Disrespect

In a video posted on social media, Motunrayo accused Ratels of lacking a father figure, which she claims explains their disregard for her father, the legendary Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti. She questioned whether VDM had surpassed Fela in importance, given how Ratels invoked Fela's name whenever Seun Kuti was mentioned.

Motunrayo further stated that if she were in charge of her father's estate, she would have sued many people who carelessly use Fela's name. She also attacked VDM personally, alleging that his father abandoned the family.

Seun Kuti's Sister Taunts VDM and Supporters

Motunrayo taunted Ratels and VDM, claiming that many of them struggle financially while she lives comfortably off her father's legacy. She emphasized that her family's hard work built that legacy, contrasting it with what she sees as the Ratels' lack of achievement.

Earlier, Seun Kuti had called Ratels "rats" for targeting him. He maintained that both Sowore and VDM are his friends and he would not abandon one for the other.

Public Reactions to Motunrayo's Comments

The video sparked widespread reactions, with many fans dragging Motunrayo for speaking out of hatred. Some argued that VDM never insulted Fela, while others claimed VDM has done more for Nigerians than Fela ever did. Comments included:

  • "VDM never insulted Fela. This is pure hate."
  • "The hate on VDM is too much; jealousy is clear."
  • "VDM's one-year achievement surpasses Fela's lifetime achievement."

Despite the backlash, Motunrayo stood by her statements, insisting that respect for her father is non-negotiable.

Meanwhile, VDM continues to be embroiled in other controversies, including a recent apology video to Pastor Chris Okafor regarding his case with Doris Ogala.
