Woman discovers man ghosted her due to body odour

A woman has shared the reason a man stopped responding to her messages and refused to reach out after they went on what she described as a perfect date. According to her account, the man gave no explanation for his sudden silence until much later, when he indirectly told her she had body odour.

The perfect date that ended in silence

She wrote: 'Someone ghosted me once after a very very very perfect date. He just dropped me off, ignored my messages, and never contacted me again. I took it as a L and moved on. We still viewed each other’s WhatsApp status o, but that was it.'

The woman explained that she had no idea why the man disappeared, and she accepted the situation as a loss, continuing with her life. However, the mystery was solved months later during a WhatsApp status interaction.

The revealing WhatsApp exchange

Then one day I posted on my WhatsApp status complaining bitterly about the rising body odour in town and he responded to my status with a question, asking how he can politely tell someone they have body odour.

She advised him: 'I told him there’s really no easy way o, but if it were me, depending on the relationship I have with the person, I’ll probably just ask them something like “did you change your body cream or get a new one recently? You smell funny o, are you sure they’ve not sold you a fake?”'

His next message was: 'When we went on that date, did you change your body cream or get a new one recently? You smelled funny o, are you sure they didn’t sell you a fake?'

Impact and reflection

The woman shared this story on social media, highlighting how a seemingly perfect date can be undermined by an unspoken issue like body odour. The incident underscores the difficulty of addressing sensitive personal hygiene matters, even among adults. The story has sparked discussions about ghosting, communication, and the importance of honesty in relationships.
