Football fans gathered at Ikeja City Mall, Lagos, on Saturday as Bet9ja, in collaboration with Mainland Block Party, hosted a watch party for the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The event attracted more than 2,500 attendees who watched the highly anticipated clash on large screens while also enjoying music performances, raffle draws and appearances from popular entertainers.
Match Drama Unfolds
The Champions League final itself delivered drama from start to finish. Arsenal took an early lead through Kai Havertz, who scored within the opening minutes of the match, giving fans of the North London club hope of a historic victory. PSG, however, responded strongly and later levelled the game through a penalty converted by Ousmane Dembélé. With both sides unable to find a winner during regular and extra time, the match was decided by penalties. PSG eventually triumphed 4-3 in the shootout to retain the UEFA Champions League title, leaving Arsenal fans heartbroken after a closely contested encounter.
Entertainment and Prizes
Beyond the football action, the event featured several entertainment activities that kept attendees engaged throughout the evening. One of the major highlights was the raffle draw organised for guests. Winners went home with various prizes, including cash rewards and mobile devices. Organisers announced prizes ranging from ₦1 million to ₦10 million, while other rewards included an iPhone 17, Samsung phones and Itel devices. The venue remained lively after the final whistle as the event transitioned into an after-party. Performances from Shoday and Odumodublvck entertained fans, while DJ Titanium kept the crowd dancing late into the night.
Notable Personalities
Several notable personalities also attended the event. Among them were Bet9ja ambassadors and entertainers including Yhemolee, Sheggz Olusemo, Teddy A and Remote. They noted that the combination of football, music and giveaways created a festival-like atmosphere. The collaboration between Bet9ja and Mainland Block Party reflected the growing popularity of large-scale football viewing events in Lagos, especially for major European fixtures.
