Family members and friends gathered last Sunday at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC), GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, for a thanksgiving service to mark the 10th remembrance anniversary of the late Dr Amos Oluwafemi Olomola and to celebrate God’s blessings on the family. The late Olomola passed away in 2016 at the age of 65.
Service Conducted by Cathedral Dean
The Dean of the Cathedral, The Venerable Ariire Kolawole, presided over the service. He stated that the family has continued to experience God’s faithfulness and preservation since the loss of its breadwinner. Kolawole prayed for continued protection and long life for family members, urging God not to forsake them. Addressing the widow, Mrs Kunbi Olomola, the cleric prayed that she would continue to witness greater blessings over her children and grandchildren.
Widow Remembers Her Husband
Speaking with The Guardian, Mrs Olomola described her late husband as a caring and exceptional man who positively impacted many lives. She said: “My husband was a fantastic man, wonderful and amazing. He carried everybody along. He was very good socially, materially and career-wise. He was an excellent man and a pacesetter. We all miss him.” She disclosed that the family has continued to benefit from the legacy her husband left behind, which informed the decision to commemorate his 10th remembrance anniversary.
Reception and Sermon
After the thanksgiving service, the family hosted a reception at Strong Tower Event Hall, Ikoyi, Lagos. Meanwhile, in his sermon titled “The Mystery of the Godhead,” Dr Tosin Isaiah said the message aimed at helping believers understand God’s divine nature and its relevance to Christians. Bible readings were taken from Proverbs 8:22–29 and John 14:8–17. Isaiah explained that the Godhead refers to one God manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, stressing that Christians worship one God and not three gods. He urged Christians to worship God with reverence, avoid sin, avoid unhealthy competition, and promote unity within the body of Christ.
