Drama, pressure, and redemption took center stage on the latest episode of MasterChef Nigeria as previously eliminated contestants — Fads, Pearl, and Margaret — returned to the kitchen for a rare second chance at the coveted title and the life-changing N73 million grand prize.
Redemption Challenge
In a surprising twist, the trio faced a high-stakes Redemption Challenge, battling for a spot back in the competition. The task was deceptively simple: master three egg fundamentals in just 10 minutes — a perfectly poached egg, a boiled egg, and an omelette. Simple in concept but brutal in execution; the task was designed to test their speed, precision, and technical skill especially under the intense pressure of a MasterChef kitchen.
Fads rose to the occasion with precision and composure. She impressed the judges with her execution and earned a dramatic return to the MasterChef Nigeria kitchen. For Pearl and Margaret, however, the challenge marked the end of their culinary journey as they exited the competition for good.
Staples of Success Challenge
But the drama did not stop there. Fresh from her comeback, Fads joined the Top 8 contestants in another demanding challenge themed “Staples of Success,” with an impressive N2 million prize at stake. The arrival of the returning white-apron cook sparked excitement among contestants, but the competition quickly separated the strongest from the struggling.
Derry’s hopes suffered a setback after the judges found her chicken undercooked, while David’s Red Chilli starter and roasted chicken failed to impress. Favy, overwhelmed by pressure, battled a dessert disaster when her Panna Cotta refused to set, forcing her to improvise. Demilade wowed judges with an inventive combination of Potato Crisps and Plantain Split, showcasing confidence and creativity.
Fads' Victory
But it was Fads who continued her redemption story with a comforting yet elevated dish of Yam Chips and Potato Soup, earning rave reviews. Clearly impressed, Chef Eros described her dish as “restaurant ready.” The duo — Demilade and Fads — secured the coveted Top 2 spots, battling for the N2 million reward. However, in what would be described as a fitting end to an emotional episode, Fads claimed ‘Dish of the Day’, completing a remarkable comeback and walking away with both renewed confidence and the cash prize.
MasterChef Nigeria airs Sundays at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family, with repeat broadcasts during the week.
