Fuji music icon Saheed Osupa has publicly called for the immediate rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, using his stage at a carnival to deliver an urgent message to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde.
Saheed Osupa Demands Action at Carnival Performance
During a carnival performance, Saheed Osupa paused the music to address the abduction that occurred on May 15. He urged the government to act swiftly, emphasizing that the families of the victims have not benefited from the nation's resources and deserve urgent protection.
The singer insisted that authorities must do whatever is necessary to secure the release of the captives, even if it involves negotiating with the kidnappers. He stated: "The government should rescue those children. Their fathers and mothers did not benefit from the national cake of this country. Find a way to settle the issue and set the schoolchildren free as soon as possible. The government, I'm talking to you, take actions as fast as possible. Whatever it takes, rescue those innocent kids. If you have to negotiate for their release, then you must. Those schoolchildren need to be set free ASAP."
Netizens React to Saheed Osupa's Plea
Social media users have praised the musician for speaking out. Many comments highlighted the need for justice and accountability. One user, @AshleyYounx, noted: "Even though the kidnapped children and teachers have been rescued, Nigerian security agencies must also ensure that the kidnappers are arrested and brought to justice. It is not enough to bring back our children and teachers; those responsible for the crime must be held accountable."
Another commenter, @sonofarinze, observed: "Two weeks since Ogbomoso. Children's Day came and went. The silence from Aso Rock is the policy. Saheed Osupa is right to speak up. When the parents aren't connected, the system doesn't hurry." Others expressed concern about the lack of response from other Fuji stars, with @PROFESS0R1990 asking: "Where is Pasuma? Where is K1? Eyan o le waye daran."
Saheed Osupa's Previous Rift with Governor Makinde
In related news, Saheed Osupa had earlier addressed his strained relationship with Governor Seyi Makinde. He claimed that he worked during Makinde's 2019 election campaign and was promised rewards after victory, but those promises were not fulfilled. Osupa also alleged that his car was damaged during the campaign and a replacement never came, urging people to investigate before judging his stance against the governor.
