Dammy Twitch's Feature Film Debut 'Call of My Life' Unveiled with Star-Studded Cast
Bluhouse Studios has officially released the trailer for Call of My Life, marking the highly anticipated feature directorial debut of acclaimed music video director Dammy Twitch. The romantic comedy features a powerhouse cast led by Uzoamaka Power and Zubby Michael, supported by Andrew Bunting in a pivotal role.
A Stellar Ensemble Cast Brings the Story to Life
The film boasts an impressive supporting lineup that includes veteran actors Nkem Owoh and Patience Ozokwo, alongside contemporary talents Beverly Osu, Justin UG, and Broda Shaggi. This blend of established and emerging performers creates a dynamic ensemble that promises to deliver both depth and entertainment value.
Plot: A Journey of Love, Loss, and Second Chances
Call of My Life centers on Soluchi, portrayed by Uzoamaka Power, a call-center agent grappling with emotional scars from being abandoned by her former partner Kalu, played by Zubby Michael. Soluchi's character is introduced as someone who maintains belief in love despite previous heartbreak, creating a relatable foundation for the narrative.
Her routine workday takes an unexpected romantic turn when she connects with Eli, played by Andrew Bunting, during what begins as a standard customer service call. This professional interaction gradually evolves into something more personal and meaningful, forcing Soluchi to confront her past while considering whether she's emotionally prepared to embrace new love.
From Music Videos to Feature Filmmaking
Born Apampa Oluwadamilola Owolabi, Dammy Twitch has established himself as a visual storyteller through his work with Nigeria's biggest musical acts. As founder of Polar Films Production and Kadiri Studios, he has directed numerous high-profile music videos for artists including Davido, Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Gyakie, and Joeboy.
Twitch explained his transition to feature filmmaking, stating, "My life has been shaped by love, so choosing a romance story for my first film was instinctive. As it's my first step into feature filmmaking, I wanted it to reflect my heart. And my heart has always been rooted in love and happiness."
Production Details and Creative Vision
The film is produced by Blessing Uzzi for Bluhouse Studios, with Uzoamaka Power contributing both as lead actress and screenwriter. Production spanned multiple Nigerian locations including Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, capturing diverse urban landscapes that reflect the story's national appeal.
Producer Blessing Uzzi shared her motivation for the project: "At a time when many feel jaded about love, I wanted to create a film that is hopeful and uplifting. After working on Freedom Way, I was interested in developing something softer in tone but still emotionally grounded."
Uzoamaka Power discussed her dual role in the production: "I love love — finding it, losing it, yearning for it, and sometimes losing ourselves in it. I wrote Call of My Life from that curiosity. It began as something personal, but then became about the characters and the responsibility to tell their story truthfully."
Musical Elements and Release Plans
Adding another layer to the storytelling, the film features live musical performances from Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo, integrating Nigeria's rich musical heritage into the cinematic experience. This musical component reflects Twitch's background in the music industry while enhancing the film's emotional resonance.
Call of My Life is scheduled for theatrical release in Nigerian cinemas later this year. With the trailer now publicly available, the film positions itself as a character-driven romantic comedy that combines familiar Nollywood faces with innovative directorial vision, promising audiences both entertainment and emotional depth.
