Actor IK Ogbonna led mourners as the body of Nollywood star Alex Ekubo arrived in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, ahead of his funeral. Family, friends, celebrities, and villagers gathered to welcome the late actor home.
The body arrived in the evening, making a brief stop at the palace of Eze Arochukwu before proceeding to his family house. IK Ogbonna, a close friend, walked alongside the convoy carrying Alex's body, leading the procession of mourners.
Other celebrities, including Ini Edo, Yomi Casual, and Omoni Oboli, were seen looking somber at Uyo Airport as they continued their journey to Arochukwu to pay their last respects. Mourners wore t-shirts bearing Alex's face and held his photograph as they walked through the village.
Alex Ekubo passed away last month at the age of 40 after a private battle with kidney cancer. He is survived by his wife, parents, and siblings.
