Alexx Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer, leaving fans and colleagues in mourning. A service of songs took place in his honor on June 10, 2026, in Lagos. The wake-keep and burial are scheduled for June 17 and 18 in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.
On his Facebook page, Oga Yenne TV, a local photographer, announced he was on the ground in Arochukwu to provide live updates. He captioned the video: 'We are live at the ancient town of Arochukwu for the burial of Alexx Ekubo happening tomorrow!'
