In a move that has sent ripples through his congregation, a prominent Kenyan Christian minister, Teacher John C.W, has officially brought his 16-year pulpit ministry to a close. The founder of Share the Love Centre made the unexpected announcement during the church's crossover service on December 31, 2025.
A Surprise Announcement During Crossover Service
The preacher revealed his decision to step away from the pulpit in a heartfelt address to his congregation as they ushered in the new year. He further stated that he would be leaving the ministry alongside his wife, Evangeline Karimi. The announcement was later shared in a video on his TikTok page, where he elaborated on his choice.
In the video, Teacher John C.W expressed that his 16 years of ministry had come to an end. He described it as a privilege to have served God with the members of his church. The minister was firm in his resolve, explicitly asking people not to attempt to change his mind through his wife. "Don't come to my wife to make my wife change my mind. She tried yesterday. It didn't work," he stated in the clip.
Leaving Speculation and Moving to "Higher Heights"
The preacher did not disclose what his and his wife's next steps would be, a decision that has left many church members and followers speculating about their future. He emphasized that the ministry was not a family business, clarifying that he was not leaving his wife in charge but that they were departing together.
He used the metaphor of an eagle to explain his departure, saying, "But like an eagle, I need to fly to higher heights." Teacher John C.W assured his audience that his future work would still involve ministry, but it would no longer be from the pulpit. "Whatever I'm still going to do is still ministry. It's just that it's not a pulpit. So pulpit ministry for me has come to an end," he concluded.
Mixed Reactions from the Public
The announcement has sparked a wide range of reactions online. Some social media users expressed support and understanding for his decision to minister outside the traditional church setting.
Ayanna_kenya commented: "People need to understand that ministry can also be done out of the pulpit. Pulpit ministry is only for a few. Any industry God has put you in is your ministry, you don't need to stand on an altar to be a minister."
Others, however, were left concerned and speculative. Njambi wa kinyanjui questioned: "Why would he leave church this way I hope he has considered those who followed Christ because of him." Another user, Tha Real Gem and Vibe, speculated about a potential shift into politics, noting the preacher's recent criticisms of the government.
The decision marks a significant transition for Teacher John C.W and the Share the Love Centre community after nearly two decades of leadership, with the path forward for the popular preacher yet to be revealed.
