Twin Babies Die After Immunization in Lagos

A family in Lagos State has been plunged into unimaginable grief following the tragic deaths of their nine-month-old identical twin sons, Testimony and Timothy. The infants reportedly passed away approximately 24 hours after receiving immunizations at a primary health care centre in the state.

Heartbreaking Timeline of Events

The twins' father, Samuel Alozie, shared the devastating sequence of events via his TikTok account, #promise.Samuel099. According to his account, the twins were given their immunizations on the morning of Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

Alozie stated that the boys became extremely weak immediately after the injections. "They were very weak, and I gave them paracetamol because the nurse said that if the temperature continued, I should give them paracetamol," he recounted. Despite administering the medication and bathing them in cool water, their condition did not improve.

Tragically, on the morning of Thursday, December 25, 2025 – Christmas Day – both twins died. "The two of them died at the same time," the heartbroken father said. He described the distressing sight of his once-vibrant sons being so weakened they could not eat, play, or talk as they normally would.

Father's Public Plea and Growing Concerns

In a follow-up video posted on Thursday, January 15, 2026, Samuel Alozie, who is known online as Promise Samuel, provided more details of the ordeal. His public sharing of the tragedy has sparked serious conversations and concerns among Nigerians regarding vaccine safety protocols and post-immunization care at primary health facilities.

The incident has resonated deeply, coming shortly after news emerged about the death of one of the twin sons of renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. While the circumstances are different, the consecutive losses of young twins have cast a somber mood and raised questions about pediatric healthcare.

Calls for Investigation and Transparency

This tragic event underscores the critical importance of robust monitoring and swift response systems following childhood immunizations. It highlights the need for clear communication to parents about potential side effects and the precise steps to take if a child exhibits adverse reactions.

The community and netizens are now calling for a thorough and transparent investigation by the relevant Lagos State health authorities. The goal is to determine the exact cause of the twins' deaths and to ensure such a heartbreaking incident does not occur again, thereby maintaining public trust in essential immunization programs.

The family's loss is a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the paramount importance of ensuring the highest standards of safety in all healthcare delivery, especially for the nation's most vulnerable citizens – its children.
