Senator Adeola Adopted as APC Consensus Candidate in Ogun State
The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as its consensus candidate during a pivotal caucus meeting held on Monday night. The gathering took place at the party's secretariat on Abiola Way in Abeokuta, the state capital, and was convened by the state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.
High-Profile Attendance and Governor's Intervention
The meeting saw the presence of numerous political heavyweights, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governor Aremo Segun Osoba, and several senators such as Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun, Kola Bajomo, Salisu Shuaib, Gbenga Kaka, and Gbenga Obadara, among other caucus members. Governor Abiodun played a crucial role by addressing the assembly, revealing that he had consulted with other aspirants from Ogun West, specifically Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, persuading them to withdraw their candidacies in support of Adeola.
Adeola's Commitment to Unity and Progress
In his acceptance speech, Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the 10th Senate, made a solemn pledge not to disappoint Ogun State or the APC. He emphasized his dedication to maintaining the state's status as one of Nigeria's fastest-growing economies and a leading industrial hub. Adeola stated, "Now is the time to consolidate all the sacrifices my brothers have made to ensure that this day comes to pass. I believe strongly in unity and oneness—both within our party and across Ogun State, particularly Ogun West."
He further acknowledged Ogun State's strategic importance to Nigeria, highlighting its industrial prowess and economic growth. Adeola assured the leaders, "Your Excellency and distinguished leaders, I assure you that I will not let you down. I promise to keep the flag flying and to sustain the unity, peace, and progress that Ogun State has enjoyed in recent years. I will not derail."
Vision for a United and Prosperous Future
Adeola outlined his vision for steering the state forward, vowing to unite all party members and residents regardless of political differences. He declared, "I will ensure that the ship I am about to captain remains on course. By the grace of God, I will do my utmost best to unite every member of our great party and the entire state, as one indivisible family." Concluding his speech, he expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and other party leaders, asserting that a new era for Ogun State is on the horizon, focused on strengthening unity and advancing to higher levels of development.
