Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has confirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) successfully conducted its governorship direct primary election across the state, resulting in Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, emerging as the party's candidate for the 2027 general election.
Governor's Announcement
In a tweet on his official handle on Wednesday, Abiodun stated that Adeola was overwhelmingly affirmed during a peaceful, orderly, and transparent exercise held throughout the state. He described the process as a reflection of the party's internal democracy and unity.
Today, we participated in the APC governorship direct primary election across Ogun State where Senator Adeola Yayi was overwhelmingly affirmed as the governorship candidate of our great party for the 2027 general election, he said.
Primary Conduct
The governor noted that the conduct of the primary demonstrated the strength and cohesion of the APC in Ogun State. He highlighted that party members, stakeholders, electoral officials, and security agencies all contributed to the smooth running of the exercise.
According to him, The exercise was peaceful, transparent, orderly, and a true reflection of the unity and internal democratic strength of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.
Party Unity
Abiodun added that the party is united behind the emergence of Adeola, expressing confidence in his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections. He congratulated the senator and reaffirmed the APC's commitment to the continued development of Ogun State under the party's leadership.
