Oyo APC Rallies for Tinubu's 2027 Campaign

In a significant political move, key figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have initiated a major mobilization drive to secure support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's anticipated re-election campaign in the 2027 general elections.

Stakeholders Rally in Ogbomoso

The unified show of force was staged at the Soun Ogunlola Hall in Oja'gbo, Ogbomoso, on Monday, 6th January 2026. The event, organized by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors team under the leadership of Senator Teslim Folarin, brought together a powerful cross-section of the party's leadership and grassroots members.

In his keynote address, Senator Folarin charged party faithful to actively propagate the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the mission was to educate citizens on the quality of leadership provided by President Tinubu, whom he credited with working tirelessly to reposition Nigeria for prosperity, stability, and peace.

"Our mission here today is basically to tell the whole world that we, in Oyo State, are ready to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda fully," Folarin declared. He added, "At the appropriate time, we will hit the nooks and crannies of the state to mobilise voters for the 2027 general elections, which is going to be a total victory for the APC."

Ajimobi Calls for Party Unity

Adding her voice to the mobilization effort, former First Lady and Ambassador-Designate, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, appealed for unity and peace within the party's ranks. She described the APC as the only formidable political force in Oyo State and expressed confidence that the current harmonious atmosphere among stakeholders would be maintained.

This unity, she assured, is crucial not only for securing President Tinubu's re-election but also for ensuring the party's return to the Agodi Government House in the 2027 state elections.

The high-profile meeting witnessed the attendance of a formidable list of APC chieftains, including:

  • Adebayo Adelabu
  • Iyiola Oladokun
  • Former SSG Alake Adeyemo
  • Rauf Olaniyan
  • Senator Abdulfatai Buhari
  • Senator Sarafadeen Alli
  • Yunus Akintunde
  • Ayoade Adeseun
  • Sunday Dare
  • Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle
  • Former Chairman Akin Oke
  • Aderemi Oseni
  • Olamiju Alao-Akala

Other notable attendees were Akin Onigbinde, Olagunju Ojo, Asimiyu Alarape, and Olayide Abas, underscoring the broad-based support for the initiative.

Concurrent Cabinet Reshuffle in Oyo

In a related development, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, announced a minor cabinet reshuffle on the same day. According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Governor has relieved the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo, of her duties with immediate effect.

In her place, Prof. Musibau Adetunji Babatunde has been appointed as the new SSG. The reshuffle also saw Mr. Temilolu Seun Ashamu moved from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to head the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

Furthermore, Governor Makinde nominated his Senior Special Assistant on Public Works, Mr. Ademola Aderinto, as a Commissioner-Designate. His name will be forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly for confirmation. New appointments include Abiodun Adedoja as Special Adviser on Energy Security and Kolawole Elijah Akanmu as Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning.

The political landscape in Oyo is clearly heating up, with the opposition APC consolidating its forces for the national battle ahead, while the ruling PDP administration fine-tunes its executive team, setting the stage for a keenly contested electoral cycle in 2027.
