Federal Government Issues Stern Warning Over Fake Immigration Recruitment Websites
The Federal Government of Nigeria has released a fresh advisory, cautioning citizens to disregard fraudulent websites and online notices that falsely claim to be conducting recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service. This warning comes in response to the widespread circulation of screenshots and links purporting to show enlistment updates, replacement recruitment, and shortlisting information for the Service, many of which have been identified as deceptive and potentially harmful.
Only CDCFIB Portal Authorized for Official Recruitment
In a clear disclaimer issued through its official X handle, the Nigeria Immigration Service has reiterated that all recruitment activities for the agency are exclusively coordinated by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The Service explicitly stated, "The general public is advised to disregard fake websites claiming to conduct recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service." It further emphasized that the CDCFIB portal, accessible via https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, is the sole authorized platform for recruitment updates, and any other links or advertisements should be considered unauthorized and ignored.
Misleading and Unauthorized Notices Pose Significant Risks
According to officials, numerous online pages displaying application forms, status-check portals, and deadlines are not connected to any legitimate government process and must be treated as false. Engaging with these fraudulent sites could expose applicants to serious risks, including fraud, identity theft, and financial loss. The Immigration Service has strongly urged the public to rely only on verified government channels for accurate information and to exercise extreme caution when encountering recruitment-related communications.
Applicants Advised to Verify Information Before Taking Action
The Nigeria Immigration Service has advised prospective applicants to thoroughly verify any announcements through official platforms and to ignore messages that demand payments or direct them to non-government websites. The Service reaffirmed that all legitimate recruitment updates will be communicated transparently through the CDCFIB's authorized portal and recognized government communication channels, ensuring a secure and reliable process for all candidates.
Previous Updates Highlight Ongoing Vigilance Against Fraud
This latest warning builds on previous alerts from the CDCFIB, which has consistently provided crucial updates for applicants in the 2025 recruitment exercise. The board has previously warned the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters and clarified that circulating documents claiming to offer recruitment information are fake and not issued by CDCFIB. Earlier, the CDCFIB also released an official list of physical verification centers following the completion of computer-based tests, further underscoring the importance of adhering to official procedures.
