Accredited Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in Nigeria, coordinated by the Coalition of Societies for the Enhancement of Human Integrity (CSCHEI), have expressed strong approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's appointment of Ambassador Kayode Aree as Nigeria's envoy to the United States. The groups describe the move as a strategic decision aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between the two nations.

CSCHEI, a United Nations-recognised platform that promotes accredited CSOs and CBOs across Nigeria, highlighted that Ambassador Aree's extensive background in security, intelligence, and international relations will significantly enhance cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. In a statement signed by its Director General, Kunle Yusuff, the organisation noted that the longstanding partnership between Nigeria and the US has yielded substantial benefits in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, security, oil and gas, industry, and aviation.

The organisation also expressed gratitude to the United States government for accepting Ambassador Aree and facilitating the start of his diplomatic mission in Washington, D.C. According to the statement, CSCHEI's development partner, Africa United Congress USA, confirmed that Ambassador Aree's professional track record, diplomatic experience, and reputation for integrity position him well to effectively advance Nigeria's interests in the United States.

Furthermore, the statement emphasised that the envoy's official resumption and reception by President Donald Trump signal renewed prospects for development-driven diplomacy and stronger institutional collaboration between the two countries. This development is expected to create fresh opportunities for partnerships involving US-based international non-governmental organisations, development agencies, and accredited CSOs and CBOs in Nigeria.

“The global community witnessed the official presentation at the Oval Office of the White House on Thursday, May 21. Capacity and performance in diplomacy are evident, and accredited civil society and community-based organisations in Nigeria are proud of Ambassador Kayode Aree’s representation of the country,” the statement concluded.
