Lagos Pledges Continued Advocacy on Environmental Sanitation

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to stepping up advocacy and public engagement on environmental sanitation to ensure a cleaner environment across the state. This was disclosed on Saturday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, during an interview at Shasa-Orisumbare in Alimosho Local Government Area, after Dopemu Bridge in Akowonjo, and in Apapa Local Government Area.

Commissioner Expresses Confidence in Monthly Sanitation Exercise

Wahab expressed confidence that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which takes place between 6:30 am and 8:30 am, will improve over time as more Lagosians comply and become accustomed to the routine. He urged residents to dispose of their waste properly to support the government's efforts.

Engagement with PSP Operators

Regarding the Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators in the state, particularly in the Alimosho area, the Commissioner stated that the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) would continue to engage with them and take necessary actions to ensure effective waste management. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, during the inspection.
