NBA Crisis Intensifies as Osigwe and Okutepa Clash Over Disciplinary Petition
A fresh rift has opened within Nigeria's legal community, escalating tensions as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), and a senior advocate of Nigeria, Chief Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, engage in a heated exchange over a petition filed before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC).

According to him, the issue is not about Okutepa's right to accept legal briefs or challenge the ECNBA, but whether full disclosure of material facts was made to the court when interim orders affecting the NBA's electoral process were obtained.
Osigwe pointed to proceedings of the NBA National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Benin, where the ECNBA was constituted. He maintained that the process, featuring a formal motion, seconding, and adoption, was duly recorded and widely communicated in an official communiqué that went unchallenged. He further noted that video evidence allegedly confirms the presence and participation of Okutepa during the deliberations.
