PEPC Foundation Launches 70,000-Litre Water Project, Feeds 5,000 in Ibeju-Lekki
PEPC Foundation Commissions Water Project in Ibeju-Lekki

The PEPC Foundation has brought significant relief to the Orimedu community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, by commissioning a major clean water initiative and distributing essential food supplies. The dual project, which aims to address critical needs and spread festive cheer, was officially launched on January 1, 2026.

A Dual Mission of Water and Welfare

At the heart of the initiative is a newly built 70,000-litre capacity clean water facility. This solar-powered project is designed to provide a sustainable source of potable water for residents, directly tackling the challenge of water scarcity and the threat of waterborne illnesses like cholera. Alongside this, the foundation kicked off the fifth edition of its annual "Love Beyond Christmas" food pack distribution, ensuring that the season's celebrations are felt by all.

Founder's Vision for a Healthier Nigeria

The founder of the PEPC Foundation, Otunba Lukman Akinsanya, outlined an ambitious plan during the commissioning ceremony. He revealed that the project in his hometown of Ibeju-Lekki is just the beginning. The foundation intends to construct similar clean water plants in riverine communities across Nigeria.

"We know that water is life; it is a very essential commodity for everyone," Akinsanya stated. "Charity begins at home, so I'm starting from Ibeju-Lekki and, by God's grace, we are sure to cover most parts of Nigeria." He emphasized that the campaign was specifically initiated to combat the lack of clean water in riverine areas and prevent associated diseases. He announced that the next community would be reached within three to four months.

Akinsanya, who was recently conferred with the chieftaincy title of Otunba Atunluse of Orimedu by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abidemi Toheeb Yissa-Oyedele, also commended President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda for its nationwide impact.

Community Leaders Applaud Humanitarian Gesture

The intervention received widespread praise from community leaders and government representatives. Oba Toheeb Yissa-Oyedele, the Onimedu of Orimedu, lauded Akinsanya for using his resources for public good without political motives. "He is doing it out of love for his community. May Almighty Allah continue to strengthen him," the royal father said.

Comrade Olalekan Biliamin-Oba, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Development, described the water project as "outstanding" for addressing the immediate needs of the people. Similarly, Prince (Comrade) Mohammed Oluwatosin Atiku, Deputy Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Ibeju-Lekki, commended the founder's love and intervention for his community.

The "Love Beyond Christmas" initiative proved to be a massive outreach, with 5,000 households in Ibeju-Lekki benefiting from the food packs. Grateful beneficiaries offered prayers for the continued success of the PEPC Foundation and its founders, highlighting the profound impact of these humanitarian gestures.
