Ex-PDP Chieftain Ewor Accuses Gov Fubara of Deceit, Hands Over to Wike Camp
Ex-PDP Chief: Fubara Misled Us About Wike Intimidation

A former close associate of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made stunning allegations, claiming the governor deliberately misled his supporters about being intimidated by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Ewor's Allegation of Deception

Robinson Ewor, who once served as a factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, stated he followed Governor Fubara with full conviction that Minister Wike was being hostile and unfair. He spoke during a visit by Wike to the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area on 2 January 2026.

Ewor expressed deep regret, saying he later discovered the governor was not truthful with his followers. This realization came especially after witnessing the truce reached between Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, Wike. He asserted that the prolonged political crisis in the state was fueled by a failure of leadership and a lack of sincerity.

The Call for Truth and Reconciliation

"Leadership is the ability to reconcile quarrels and disagreements. The turmoil in Rivers State has lingered because the truth was not told," Ewor declared. He emphasized that having now "discovered the truth," he decided to move on and predicted others would follow.

He issued a strong critique of the leadership failure, stating the situation worsened not because Rivers State committed an offence, but because leaders could not manage political differences. Ewor pointedly questioned the governor's trustworthiness regarding peace agreements.

"For the President to mediate twice and you failed to keep the terms of the agreement twice, does it mean God will come down from heaven before you comply?" he asked rhetorically. "If the President mediated twice, and you still did not keep to it, then you cannot be trusted."

Formal Handover and Unified PDP

In a significant political move, Robinson Ewor announced he would no longer oppose Nyesom Wike. He formally handed over the factional PDP chairmanship structure to the party committee chairman loyal to the minister, Mr. Aaron Chukwemeka.

"PDP is no longer factionalised in Rivers State," Ewor proclaimed. "The party is now under one chairman, one leadership, and under the FCT leader." This declaration signals a major consolidation of power within the state's PDP under Wike's influence.

Other speakers at the event echoed the sentiment of unity. A former state PDP chairman, Felix Obuah, said the people were united in support of President Bola Tinubu's renewed mandate in 2027. Council Chairman, Chukwu Ogbogu, praised Wike's leadership and assured him of total support ahead of the 2027 elections.

In his response, Minister Wike interpreted the unity he saw as making the area a "no-go area" for opposition forces. "We have all decided to support President Tinubu in 2027 and to correct the mistakes we made in Rivers State in 2023," he stated. Wike dismissed political attacks against him as products of envy, insisting that he remains unstoppable.
